Preparing for Your Wild at Heart BASIC

Congratulations on your decision to get away for a few days to do something great for your heart...and for all those whose lives yours touches.

Here are some things you'll need to know and do as November 14 approaches.

  • Please send in your registration fee of $145 (or the portion you can contribute) made out to Grace to Glory.  Mail checks to Grace to Glory, P.O. Box 1375, Nicholasville, KY 40340 to arrive before November 1st.

  • Read (or listen to) Wild at Heart Revised Edition, again if you've read it before.

  • Do all you can ahead of time to make sure you can unplug for the weekend.  We encourage everyone to make one call to let loved ones know you've arrived safely and that you've been asked to turn off the phone for the weekend.  You can give them these numbers to call in case of an emergency:  Tim Harrison 706-273-4025 and Mike McCreary  859-948-5603. It will make a big difference in the man that returns to them.

  • Check in begins at 3:00 and the first scheduled event is Thursday's dinner at 6:00.

  • Bedding and towels will be provided, but bring your own toiletries, pillow...and EARPLUGS! You'll have your own bed, but you'll be sharing a room with potential snorers.

  • Bring a comfortable bag/camp chair.  You'll put it to use in our sessions, during your time alone with God, and around the campfire.

  • Bring pens. You'll be given a simple Wild at Heart BASIC Journal, but you may wish to bring your own journal.

  • All meals will be provided beginning with dinner on Thursday evening at 6:00 through breakfast on Sunday morning.  We will wrap up at noon on Sunday in time for you to get lunch on the way home.  Please bring snacks and drinks to share!

  • Each afternoon, you'll have close to four hours of free time.  There is hiking to be done near the cabin as well as a few miles away at Natural Bridge.  You may also want to arrange ahead of time for some adventure while you're in the area such as Cave Kayaking, Rappelling, High Ropes, etc.  Just bring appropriate clothing and footwear as the weather forecast becomes clear.

  • Be prepared for opposition that will try and keep you from coming and enlist trusted people to pray for you.  There is actually an enemy in our story and he knows what happens when a man gets his his heart back and begins to engage in the battle for the hearts of his fellow brothers, wives, children, and friends.  Push through it and be there.  You'll be glad you did.

  • Directions to the Boone's Arches Cabin from Lexington:  (GPS to 3545 Nada Tunnel Road, Stanton, KY takes you to the rental office just past the final turn.)  Take I-64 East to the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway.  Take Exit 33 for KY-11 and turn right onto KY-77 (Nada Tunnel Road).  Go 3.2 miles (one mile after you exit Nada Tunnel) and turn right between two guard rails (pictured below).  Take the first fork to the right and look for the cabin with the arches.
